In The News
Wednesday, Jan 7, 2004 - A huge squid was caught off of the coast of Antarctica.
There have only ever been six specimens of this squid recovered: five have come from the stomachs of sperm whales and the sixth was caught in a trawl net at a depth of 2,000 to 2,200 meters.
A squid researcher said, "This animal, armed as it is with the hooks and the beak that it has, not only is colossal in size but is going to be a phenomenal predator and something you are not going to want to meet in the water."
In other news, Hillary Clinton, when questioned about her feelings about Monica Lewinsky, was reported to have said, "This animal, armed as it is with the hooks and the beak that it has, not only is colossal in size but is going to be a phenomenal predator and something you are not going to want to meet in the water."
In the presidential race, Howard Dean, in a heated statement to reporters today said, "The capture of this squid has not made the US Navy any safer."
Shortly after his statement, Libya notified the UN that it would stop it's Giant Squid breeding program and agreed to pay $2,000,000 dollars to each of the families of those lost on the Nautilus, which, mysteriously, disappeared during a 20,000 league sojourn.
