On Link Exchanges
Every now and again, I get requests for link exchanges. I don't really do a link exchange. If you want me to have a look at your site, send me an E-Mail. If I dig your site enough, I may link it. If I don't really dig your site then I won't.
By the same token, if you dig my site, put a link or banner on your site to mine. After I get a few hits I will probably check your site out from shear curiosity. If Iike it, I will link to it. In fact, I am more likely to link your site if I have been getting hits from it and I inspect it on my own than if you ask for a link exchange.
That doesn't mean that I don't want to see your site. I just don't really dig the link exchange deal. I link what I like and will not be obligated just because someone linked to my site.
Finally, I have gotten a few requests for link exchanges from people with sites that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, some of these have been hosted for free. These are sites that, no matter how much I like them, I won't link to. The reason for that is that free hosts are notorious for removing sites for no reason and with no warning. So, if you have a cool site, get it hosted by a good web host and not something like Geocities.
