Voting in Florida
With the Presidential election on the horizon, things are getting tense in Florida. High ranking members of the Democratic party are already expressing concern over how the voters in Florida are going to screw things up, being less intelligent than their Republican counter parts.
As you may recall, the Democratic voters who turned out for the 2000 presidential election had major difficulty understanding the ballots and casting votes for the person they wanted to win the election. This, it has been argued, is what led to the election our current president, George W. Bush. Note: Republican voters had no problems comprehending the exact same ballots.
As an attempt to ensure that the Democratic voters in Florida don't make the same mistakes as the last time, they have introduced a new "idiot proof" ballot form that they hope will be approved in time for the next presidential election.
Recent interviews with Las Vegas odds makers, however, have indicated a complete lack of faith in Florida voters and their abilities to actually use any sort of ballot, no matter how "idiot proof" it may be.
In fact, odds makers have made it 8 to 1 against Florida voters even getting to their proper polling places on time or on the right day. And, they have made the odds 3 to 1 that, should Bush win re-election, Democratic voters will find more reasons that they could not understand the ballots.
When asked to comment on the current odds, Al Gore, though his lips were moving, had nothing valid or interesting to say.
