The Astounding Stupidity of Eco-Terrorists...
Eco-terrorists, hoping to get back at the automotive industry for their production and sale of automobiles with low fuel efficiency, attacked a couple of car dealerships burning over a million dollars in Hummers. Way to go!
Let's analyze what this accomplishes…First, the fire turned oxygen into carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. Last I heard those are greenhouse gases, which are said to contribute to global warming. Not very eco-friendly.
Now, what all did the fire burn? Well, it burned paint, rubber and plastic, for a start. When you burn these items you release various gases. Some of these gases are irritating and some of them are carcinogenic. All of them are supposed to contribute to global warming. Again, not very eco-friendly.
Now, here is the really stupid part.
These idiots set these SUV's on fire to protest their low fuel efficiency and how harmful they are to the ecology. A quick analysis of what this would accomplish leads me to this…it makes more money for the dealers and the manufacturer!
How, you may ask? Well, let's see…The Hummers that were burned were, no doubt, covered by insurance, which will pay for the full cost of the vehicle, not to mention the repairs to the dealership. So, the dealership didn't lose. If anything, they have free advertising on the news and some extra money to renovate and improve their building.
As for the manufacturer - well, they were already paid for the Hummer. Now, they have to supply the dealership with more Hummers. So, they will make more money due to the increased demand. Then, they will have to ship them in fuel wasting car transport trucks.
So, who was hurt by this eco-terrorism? Well, the insurance company took a bit of a hit. But, it's a drop in the bucket for them.
Other than that, the eco terrorists only managed to pollute the atmosphere - the very thing that they were wanting to protect.
